For this quarter’s Damage Prevention MVP, we’re switching things up and featuring a company
instead of an individual. I’d like
to introduce you to Natural Gas Piping Company from Dyersburg, Tennessee. I have received multiple nominations from several West Tennessee utility members to
feature this excavation company. Most recently, the nomination comes from Sammy Locke with Gibson County Utility District (GCUD) in Trenton, Tennessee. Sammy is an Asset Protection Manager and has been with GCUD for 28 years. He
is also the chairman for the Utility Association of Gibson County. That utility association was formed in 2018 to establish communication for all stakeholders that perform excavation in Gibson County. When a pandemic is not present, the group meets in person quarterly to discuss current or upcoming projects and damage prevention efforts.
Sammy had several good things to say about Natural Gas Piping Company. He told me, “Natural Gas Piping Company has been a contractor installing natural gas lines for Gibson County Utility District for nearly 30 years and there is a reason Natural Gas Piping continues to get work from GCUD.” He said, “They are not
a big company, but they put an emphasis on damage prevention, communication, and relationships. They do such an incredible job! They are a preferred company that we
use for our projects. Lynn and Cody work very well with utility managers on change orders and following policies and procedures of the utility. Natural Gas Piping maintains their own operator qualifications
