I hope everyone is enjoying a great Tennessee Summer. We certainly had a rainy spring, but ticket volume is still up approximately 3.5% over 2023.
We are expecting the second half of 2024 to be at least as busy as the first half. Please remember that we have tools in place that allow you to input your own locate request online at your convenience. You can find more info by looking for “Online Ticket Entry” on our website.
Remember, Tennessee 811 is here to serve you. We don’t own or mark underground utilities, but we take an excavator’s notification, process it to make sure that the necessary utilities are notified, and then transmit that information in a timely manner. After that, each member utility (or their locator) determines if there is a conflict and marks the approximate location of their underground lines.
All utilities have a responsibility to respond to the tickets they receive through the Positive Response System. Excavators can view the latest responses anytime online, and you’ll also get an automated email from TN811 once all utilities have responded online. Regardless of the responses online, if you arrive at the job site and there is clear evidence of an unmarked facility, you must make an additional notice to 811.
Ticket volume, ticket distribution, and even individual tickets can offer valuable insights to help excavators, locators, and utility members make informed decisions. Bill Berzins and the IT/GIS team have recently launched a new dashboard on the website that allows you to view and filter live ticket data. You can also specify a date range to view older data and view tickets by location on a map. We invite you to check out the dashboard at https://www.tenn811.com/live-dashboard. We’d love to hear your feedback on what methods of reviewing ticket data are most beneficial.
We are dedicated to serving our callers and members to the best of our ability.
Tennessee 811’s purpose is Customer Experience.
Our core values are Dedication, Reliability, Partnership, and Expertise.
Thank you for your continued support and thanks to our outstanding employees for helping make Tennessee safer.
  Respectfully,
William “Bill” Turner President Tennessee811
