 Are there excepons to the requirement?
White markings are not required if the ulity operator or their locator can determine the precise locaon of the proposed area of excavaon based on:
• The street address listed on the one-call cket because of the size of the property.
• A street address or block and lot number listed on the one-call cket and a
reference to a driveway or other easily idenfiable point on the property.
• A one-call cket that idenfies the property as being located on a street or road between two (2)
designed intersecons of the street or road and two (2) cross streets or roads when a street
address or block and lot number is unavailable or does not apply.
• A meeng prior to the beginning of the excavaon or demolion for the exchange of informaon
on the locaon of the proposed excavaon or demolion with all operators with underground facilies in the proposed area of excavaon.
When should I pre-mark / white line the proposed area of excavaon?
The proposed area of excavaon should be pre-marked / white lined before a one-call cket is submited so that marking instrucons can be worded to match the proposed route that has already been confirmed and delineated in the field.
Is there a standard for how I pre-mark / white line my proposed area of excavaon?
Appendix B of the CGA Best Pracces provides guidelines for pre-marking / white lining. These guidelines were adopted into the rules of the UUDEB.
